Rural schools face possible closure

Elementary schools in Goodsprings and Mount Charleston face possible closure, and neighbors are planning to meet to register their protests. Parents will meet early Wednesday evening at Lundy Elementary in Old Town subdivision in upper Kyle Canyon, and Goodsprings are set to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday.

If the closure were to come to fruition, early-grade students would be forced to ride a bus. In the case of Goodsprings, students would be sent to Sandy Valley approximately 20 minutes away. For the Mount Charleston students, the destination would be Indian Springs, about a 45-minute bus ride one way.
