Sandoval’s take on his debate performance

It turns out Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Sandoval believes he got the job done in his Sunday night debate against Democrat Rory Reid.

Here’s his statement: "I appreciated the opportunity to debate Rory Reid on education this evening. The education system in our state does not measure up and is not providing all our children with the world class education they deserve. Rory Reid's education plan simply does not go far enough. Repackaging the current system won't change things. It's time to shake up the system for our kids. I know we can do better.

"My education plan is a bold approach to challenging the status quo. We must end the social promotion of our children, end teacher tenure and give parents choices to seek the best possible education for their children. It's time to get serious about reform. Our children deserve nothing less."

Meanwhile, somewhere in Nevada Reid is still holding up that hand-drawn placard that reads “$533 million,” the amount he says Sandoval’s plan would cut from the K-12 education budget.
