Sands China battles for control of Cotai plots

When Sands China’s application was rejected in December for two casino plots on the Cotai after substantial preliminary investment, officials from parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp. appealed and questioned whether the hugely successful gaming company was being discriminated against.
Not so, says Stephen Young, U.S. Consul for Hong Kong and Macau. The Macau Daily Times has the full story.
Young: “My sense is that this policy is not discriminatory but is intended to regulate the growth of the economy and the industry in general. There’s not some sort of special conditions that prejudice foreign investment. If you talk with foreign operators, they feel they are fairly treated.”
