Santorum not talking about his role in Ensign story
Former Sen. Rick Santorum told Politico today he would not comment on his alleged role in bringing to light Sen. John Ensign's extramarital affair.
"I'm not even going to dignify that question," Santorum told a Politico reporter.
In a televised interview, Doug Hampton, the husband of Ensign's mistress, said he believes it was Santorum who told Ensign he was in danger of public exposure.
Before Ensign went public with the affair last month, Hampton had taken the story to Fox News, begging anchor Megyn Kelly to expose the matter. Hampton says he also made a personal appeal to Santorum, a friend and former colleague of Ensign, in Santorum's capacity as a Fox contributor.
