‘Savor the Moment’ another success for Nora Roberts

Nora Roberts’ “Savor the Moment,” the third in her Bride Quartet, is an enjoyable read even for those who have not read the first two books.

Laurel McBane, a professional cake creator, is in partnership with three of her childhood friends, forming a wedding planning company called Vows. Parker is the wedding coordinator, Mac is the photographer, Emma is the florist and Laurel creates the cakes and other treats. Also in business with the best friends is Parker’s brother Del, an Ivy League lawyer.

Unknown to Del, Laurel has had a crush on him since they were growing up as kids. Laurel, thinking Del is completely out of her league, never has acted on her feelings. But, after tiring of Del’s protectiveness toward all the girls, Laurel becomes frustrated at being treated like his little sister, and, in a heated argument, kisses him.

The spontaneous, passion-fueled moment opens both their eyes. Del has forever admired Laurel, who overcame a rough childhood plagued by poverty and a philandering father, and Laurel has always appreciated a man of strength and intelligence. Despite the differences in their upbringing, both agree to investigate their feelings.

“Savor the Moment” follows the development of this romance as well as the beginning of what could be a new love for another of the friends. Roberts’ story is full of humor and she skillfully makes the reader care about the characters. Lovers of women’s fiction just can’t go wrong with Nora Roberts.
