Scholarship-gate update

To follow up on a previous blog post: The number of scholarships Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, steered to her own kin and the children of a top aide has now risen to 23. Last year alone she gave eight of her own grandkids scholarships, a clear violation of the rules of the Black Caucus scholarship fund.

She says she didn't know she broke the rules (you can bet that's a CYA lie) and she'll now repay those scholarships. That doesn't quite make up for this violation, in my mind. If she has the $$$ to repay those illegitimate scholarships, then she should have given it to her grandkids in the first place, instead of cheating other more deserving kids out of the chance. This whole deal goes to character and this office holder comes up way short. You can read the shameful update here.
