Sen. Reid benched; fiscal cliff deal reached
You didn't have to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce that sending Sen. Harry Reid to negotiate a delicate deal on the fiscal cliff was like sending the proverbial bull into the china shop.
Sen. Reid is ill-suited to any kind of leadership position, unless it is one like a rattlesnake leads a field mouse to dinner. With few principles and even less charm, sending Reid to try to craft a fiscal cliff deal was just a bad call by Democrats all the way around.
The deal was eventually reached but only after Reid was taken out of the game and replaced by Vice President Joe Biden. (How embarrassing for Reid is that? Joe Biden?) You can read the details of the sacking of Reid here.
And you can read more on the deal here.
PS: House Speaker Boehner had a few choice words for Sen. Reid when talks broke down. I'll leave it to your imagination, or you can click here for the details.
PPS: Sen. Reid so disliked the deal Obama wanted, Harry threw the proposal into the fireplace. Then, like the man of strict principle he is, Sen. Reid voted for the deal. Man, does that story tell you all you need to know about the legacy of Sen. Harry Reid in Washington, D.C.
