Senator predicts GOP will keep pressure on Reid to allow repeal vote

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has said he will not bring up any attempt to have the Democrat-led Senate vote on repeal of last year's health care law. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., predicts Republicans will go to great lengths to overcome that hurdle.
Speaking to reporters in Georgia on Friday, Chambliss said Republicans will try to attach health care repeal as an amendment to every bill if it comes to that.
“I don’t know why (Reid) would make that statement because I assure you, if we have to, every bill that comes before the Senate will have repeal of health care as an amendment and, under our rules, germaneness is not an issue,” Chambliss said, according to an Associated Press report out of Atlanta.
“We’ll have debate in the Senate on the issue of repealing health care,” Chambliss said. “Now he (Reid) may have the votes. He probably does, but there will be a vote on it.”
Republicans have been goading Reid to allow the Senate to vote on repeal, following the House vote on Wednesday to scrap the new law.
