Shade Tree of Las Vegas receives grant

 The Shade Tree of Las Vegas received a $35,000 grant from Starbucks Community Program “Vote. Give Grow.”

  The Shade Tree, a local nonprofit organization that shelters women, children and their pets affected by domestic violence, was announced as the recipient of the largest monetary award in Nevada.

“Simply being chosen to participate in this program is an honor,” Marlene Richter, executive director of The Shade Tree, said in a statement. “We look forward to using this grant to give back to our community and help the women and children of Las Vegas.” 

The statement said the funds awarded to The Shade Tree will be used to provide nutritious meals and snacks to residents of the shelter.
