SHOOTING STARS EXTRA: Cheer as ‘Man v. Food’ chows down Saturday at NASCAR Café
May 7, 2009 - 6:25 pm
Adam Richman’s nickname is “Iron Gut.”
And he’s definitely going to need an iron gut Saturday afternoon, when the host of the Travel Channel series “Man v. Food” takes on the B3 — the Big Badass Burrito — at the Sahara’s NASCAR Café.
The Travel Channel series has been in town shooting at local culinary magnets from Hash House A Go Go to Hot & Juicy Crawfish.
During each episode, Richman also challenges himself to consume mass quantities of a local delicacy. (Past challenges range from a 13-pound pizza to a platter of atomic-hot wings.)
This time, it’s the NASCAR Café’s six-pound, two-foot burrito, smothered in guacamole, sour cream and cheese.
If he can’t eat every bite, he’ll don a pink, extra-small “Certified Weenie” T-shirt and smile for a photo to be displayed on the “Weenie Wall of Shame.”
Should Richman complete his quest, however, he’ll get a “Conqueror” T-shirt and join two others on the restaurant’s Wall of Fame.
The 1:30 p.m. Saturday shoot is open to the public and guests are encouraged to cheer Richman’s challenge. The first 50 customers to arrive at 1:30 p.m. will receive a free draft beer.
