SHOOTING STARS: Vegas ‘Hangover’ starts Saturday

Some Vegas hangovers last for days. “The Hangover,” however, will be around for weeks, filming at on- and off-Strip locations.
The Warner Bros. feature focuses on the expectedly comic complications of a typically wild Vegas weekend, as three best friends attending a bachelor party lose the groom — literally — during a drunken spree and must retrace their steps to find him. (Assuming they can focus their eyes, that is.)
Bradley Cooper (at right, next up in “Yes Man” and “He’s Just Not That Into You”) joins Ed Helms (“Meet Dave”) in the starring cast. Todd Phillips — whose  credits include “Road Trip,” “Old School” and “Starsky & Hutch” — directs from a screenplay by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (“Rebound,” the upcoming “Four Christmases”).
And if you’re interested in joining the fun, “The Hangover’s” still looking for extras; register at www.DavidAnthonyCasting.com to indicate your interest.
So far, the production’s biggest need for background players is “poolgoers — lots and lots of poolgoers,” so casting officials are more interested in hearing from “anyone that is OK with working on set in a bathing suit.”
As always, stay tuned to future Shooting Stars postings for more details on “The Hangover’s” visit.
“Revolution” evolution: Is it a revolution? Is it an evolution? Either way, the Travel Channel’s banking on Las Vegas’ continuing appeal to spark interest in “Vegas Revolution,” its upcoming six-part series.
“Historically, shows about Vegas have performed very well on the Travel Channel,” notes Elizabeth Browde, the series’ executive producer. “Our viewers love Las Vegas.”
The series is geared toward “people who maybe haven’t been there in 10 years,” she explains — and people who may be under the mistaken impression that Las Vegas hasn’t moved beyond its brief flirtation with family entertainment.
Today’s Las Vegas is “bigger, shinier, brighter,” Browde comments, and the Travel Channel series will focus on high-end adventures “showing you the sky is the limit.”
Production continues through the end of September and will resume in October; the series is scheduled to debut in November.
On the run: Parkour and free running may not rival football and baseball as high-profile sports, but the noncompetitive pursuit hits Las Vegas for the documentary “PK Takes Vegas.”
Five traceurs  from different areas of the country will converge on Las Vegas for the five-day shoot, demonstrating the “individual freedom of movement” that characterizes the noncompetitive sports, explains producer Eric Bennett.
As for the Southern Nevada location, “we wanted a really interesting backdrop,” he says, and with its “lights, color and interesting architecture,” Glitter City was it.
The documentary also has an only-in-Vegas angle: In a behind-the-scenes segment, the traceurs will work out with cast members featured in Cirque du Soleil’s MGM Grand extravaganza, “Ka.”
On the bubble: All ages will be bubbling over with enthusiasm — and demonstrating the same — during production of a new campaign for the Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management.
Five spots will depict kids of all ages blowing bubbles from downtown to Desert Breeze Park; the footage will turn up on local TV starting next month, according to Matt Wilkinson of Las Vegas-based Abe Froman Productions, which is producing the spots.
It’s a wrap: The locally produced “Blended” is scheduled to wrap up production today at Henderson’s airport and Steak bar, according writer-director Ronda Baldwin-Kennedy.
The family-friction comedy focuses on the wedding of an interracial couple — and the mutual antipathy of the happy couple’s fathers, whom Baldwin-Kennedy likens to legendary sitcom antagonists Archie Bunker and George Jefferson.
