Single-site gall bladder removal performed at MountainView

MountainView Hospital said in a statement March 29 that Francis W. Teng, M.D., F.A.C.S., performed the first single-site robotic cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) in the state of Nevada.
“We are pleased to offer this advanced procedure to our community,” said Will Wagnon, Chief Executive Officer at MountainView. “This would not be possible without our dedicated team of physicians, staff and the da Vinci single-site technology.”
The instrument used to perform single-site procedures combines multiport laparoscopy with the advantages of robotically-assisted surgery. MountainView said benefits of this type of surgery include minimal scarring, minimal pain, less blood loss, faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay.
More information about the robotic surgery program at MountainView Hospital is available at www.MountainView-Hospital.com.
