Smart move: Prive seeks delay at county

The owners of the controversial Prive nightclub and Living Room
ultralounge has wisely sought and received more time before it faces
what might have been a buzz saw at the County Commission.

Today’s hearing has been rescheduled for 9:15 a.m. Aug. 18.

Clearly this issue is still too hot even for the estimable attorney
Jay Brown to explain away. Prive has been found to have allowed
underage drinking and the dumping of drunk customers. Managers are
accused of fostering an atmosphere that allowed lewd behavior and
sexual assaults by customers and employees.

It’s hard to imagine such accusations ever cooling enough to allow
current management to continue. Planet Hollywood would court disaster
by failing to closely scrutinize the club’s operation. Its already
been fined $500,000 for turning a blind eye.

Could a sale of the club be in the works?

Or is Brown buying a little time to reshuffle his deck and deal
himself a better hand before the commission?
