Spinning to improve respect for the Mob Museum

The spin continues in an attempt to salvage respect for Mayor Oscar Goodman's mob museum project. This week the political mechanics worked overtime to try to recraft the image of the Organized Crime and Law Enforcement Museum project, which has been rejected for federal stimulus funds and suffers from precisely what I predicted when Goodman concocted the idea years ago: A "mob" museum might be popular, but splashing the word "mob" too liberally will hurt its prospects. And it has.

Not all news outlets are yet warming up to the new spin.

"Mob Museum to Showcase Vegas's Underworld," shouts Agence France Press.

Meanwhile, the tinkering continues. Goodman knows a hit when he sees one, and he promises this museum will be one.
