State, city officials plan workforce development and training expo

State Assemblywoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick, County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly and Councilwoman Anita Wood plan to host a workforce development and training expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Goynes Park at 3909 Washburn Road.

The event is set to feature services from Extra Mile Staffing, the Urban League, Financial Guidance Center and others. The event aims to provide information on available job training, part-time and long-term employment opportunities and other forms of support.

The event is scheduled to include free games for kids to keep them occupied while adults meet with perspective employers and trainers.

There will be free hot dogs and hamburgers while supplies last. For more information, call 702-457-9995.
