State report claims stimulus saved 4,200 education jobs

The state's new report on the impact of stimulus money on Nevada says nearly 4,200 education jobs were saved as a result of the law.

That's counter to what Dan Burns, spokesman for Gov. Jim Gibbons, said just days ago while criticizing the stimulus law, officially called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“Are you telling me we would have laid off 4,000 teachers without the stimulus?” Burns was quoted in the Review-Journal Oct. 30. “I don’t believe that is so.”
