Sullivan Square extends urban design to homes

When developing the design for the interior common areas of Sullivan Square's Madison Towers, such as the lobby, corridors and amenities center, the designers at GSG Development are hoping to create a distinctive appearance.
"Ultimately, the common areas are an extension of the individual residences found in the Madison Towers and in the other buildings that make up the neighborhood," said Robert Olson, design manager for GSG Development, Sullivan Square's developer. "By incorporating residential décor elements into these public spaces, residents will feel that they're 'home' just by doing something as simple as walking through the lobby."
According to Olson, the design is streamlined minimalism mixed with a traditional European feel. "The look is very 'Old World,' almost as if it had existed before. When combining the antique and contemporary furnishings and setting them against the sleek, white walls, we are able to capture the feel of older buildings you would find in large metropolitan cities," Olson said.
"For the lobby, the furnishings such as the chairs and benches will have a silver leaf base and a rich, brown silk fabric. The lobby will also feature an exquisite lead and rock crystal chandelier, with distressed silver leaf finish, giving it and the furniture a true vintage look."
The anchor of the Madison Towers lobby is the large marble front desk that will wrap around the entire reception area. The white and gray-veined marble will also be accented throughout the building in areas such as the elevator stalls and in the amenities lounge, framing a fireplace.
Like all of GSG Development's projects, art is incorporated into the design plan for the common areas. "A variety of contemporary, abstract and expressionist paintings and sculptures will be placed in the lobby and in the corridors, completing the sophisticated urban design," Olson said.
When thinking about the finishes and colors to offer future residents of the Madison Towers, Olson wanted to keep them stylish, but simple. "The minimal elements and warm colors of available finishes provide a clean canvas for residents to create a distinctive look in their home. From 16th century French to 1920s Bauhaus, any design is suitable," he said.
A furnished vignette is currently on display at the Sullivan Square Sales Center, showcasing interior amenities of the Madison Tower I and II residences. Features include wood flooring in the kitchen, main living area and dining room, quartz stone countertops with glass mosaic backsplashes and Italian-designed cabinetry in the kitchen and baths.
Upon completion, Sullivan Square will consist of about 1,300 residences. Madison Tower II is currently offering 176 units with 27 floor plans ranging from 641 to nearly 1,900 square feet, with first-release prices beginning in the low $300,000s.
Sullivan Square's traditional brownstones capture romantic, Old World beauty with a design similar to 17th or 18th century brownstones that you would find in cities such as New York, London or Paris. The homes range from 1,700 to 1,900 square feet throughout three floors, with prices starting at just over $1 million.
The community's live/work spaces offer residents a unique opportunity to live above the shops on market street or to purchase the space below their living quarters for their own businesses.
The Sullivan Square Sales Center is located at 8930 Spanish Ridge Ave. and is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, exit Russell Road and head north on Frontage Road. Turn east on Hacienda Avenue and south into The Park at Spanish Ridge.
