Summerlin And Stripes Forever

More than 35,000 valley residents recently celebrated America's birthday at the 14th annual Summerlin Patriotic Parade, the Las Vegas valley's largest and most colorful Fourth of July parade. This year the parade featured more than 70 entries that included traditional floats, dance performers, musical groups, giant inflatable balloons, cars and other decorated vehicles, dignitaries and local mascots. The annual parade is coordinated by The Summerlin Council, the non-profit arm of the Summerlin Community Association dedicated to the social, cultural and recreational enrichment of residents. This year's parade was once again emceed by KLAS Channel 8 personalities Sherry Swensk and Justin Cooper.

Title sponsors of the 2008 parade included The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin and its 13 home builders: Chateau Properties, Christopher Homes, Engle Homes, KB Home, Pageantry Homes, Pulte Homes, R/S Development, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes, Toll Brothers, Westmark Homes, William Lyon Homes and Woodside Homes. Other sponsors included General Growth Properties, Securitas, Summerlin News, Embarq, Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, Summerlin Children's Forum, Hutchison and Steffen, Nevada State Bank and DLP Services.
