Summerlin announces winners

For the past nine years, the Danzeisen family has participated in the annual Festival of Lights competition in the master-planned community of Summerlin, earning a long list of awards. But for the first time, the family won the Best of Show award this year, and according to family patriarch Andrew Danzeisen, "they're thrilled."
The Best of Show award is given to the best-decorated holiday home in Summerlin as selected by members of the Women's Club of Summerlin, who judged the competition.
The Danzeisens' home, located in The Pueblo Village, is decorated with more than 60 Christmas trees, Santa and Mrs. Claus, multiple snowmen and more strands of lights than they can count.
"Every year, our decorations and our effort gets bigger and better," said Danzeisen, who spent nearly three weeks installing the outside décor. "Decorating for Christmas is an annual family tradition for us and we're big into family traditions. Plus, it's fun to have so much support from our neighbors and friends who constantly encourage us to continue the tradition. They enjoy the results as much as we do -- without the effort," he said jokingly.
The Danzeisen family moved from the East Coast to Summerlin in 1998 when Andrew was offered a position in the gaming industry.
