TRAVEL CLUB TO MEET AT TAP HOUSE

The Las Vegas Single Social and Travel Club for Mature Adults plans to meet at 7 p.m. today at the Tap House, 5589 W. Charleston Blvd. The club meets the fourth Tuesday of every month. For more information, call 888-324-2028.

WARD 2 TOWN HALL MEETING SET

Clark County Commissioner Susan Brager and Las Vegas Ward 2 City Councilman Steve Wolfson plan to host a Town Hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road.

They plan to discuss issues of importance to residents of The Lakes and Peccole Ranch. The town hall will welcome longtime city of Las Vegas Ward 2 residents into the newly configured District F of Clark County.

Representatives from departments within the city and county will be in attendance to answer questions and provide information on services within the different jurisdictions.

COMMUNITY SALE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR D.C. TRIP FOR PALO VERDE STUDENTS

To raise funds for a trip to Washington, D.C., the Palo Verde High School Panther Pride Marching Bands plan to host the Summerlin Community Garage Sale from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Palo Verde parking lot, 333 S. Pavilion Center Drive.

The band was bestowed the honor of representing Nevada in the annual Washington D.C. Memorial Day Parade in May 2012. In addition to garage sale items, craft items will be sold. Donated items for the event can be dropped off from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday.

CATCH WOMAN'S EXPO AT RED ROCK RESORT

The Las Vegas Woman's Expo is planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd. Goody bags are available for the first 500 women, and a fashion show is planned at noon. Admission is $5.

PET ADOPTIONS SET AT TIVOLI VILLAGE

The Animal Foundation's pet adoptions are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday in front of The Dog House at Tivoli Village, 302 S. Rampart Blvd.

Animals from The Animal Foundation will be on display and available for adoption. All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and will be sent home with a starter bag of pet food and a voucher for a complimentary wellness exam. For more information, visit animalfoundation.com.

GRACE IN THE DESERT CHURCH PLANS CRAFT SALE

Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane, plans to host a holiday bazaar and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 5. Booths will have holiday theme crafts, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Scentsy, Avon, Mary Kay, Longaberger baskets, face painting, baked goods, food, games and many other vendors.

Free entertainment will be offered throughout the day. All proceeds go to the church's patio-building fund and sponsored outreach charities.

GOLF HALL OF FAME CEREMONY COMING TO TPC SUMMERLIN

The 2011 Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony is slated for 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle.

It is set to induct: Craig Barlow, PGA Tour veteran who has tallied more than $5 million in career earnings and who grew up in Las Vegas; Art Sellinger, owner/CEO and visionary of Long Drivers of America and a two-time U.S. national long drive champion; Laurie Johnson, a high-level amateur with a win at the 2010 Southern NV Senior Amateur Championship and six wins at the Southern Nevada Amateur Championship.

The cocktail reception will be followed by dinner and the ceremony.

HEALING HEROES GOLF TOURNAMENT COMING TO RED ROCK COUNTRY CLUB

Red Rock Country Club plans to host a fundraiser golf tournament to benefit Healing Heroes Network Nov. 2 at its facility, 2250 Red Springs Road. Check-in is scheduled to begin at 7:15 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

HHN is a nonprofit organization that helps returning veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq.

Individual players pay $125, and teams are $500. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, a driving range, lunch, a silent auction and various prizes.

The Southern Nevada Health District announces its Get Health Holiday Challenge, a web-based program offering a weekly challenge and tools to track progress through the holidays.

Each week a healthy challenge email will be distributed to encourage lifestyle changes, such as a daily 15-minute walk or eating three servings of vegetables a day. The program also will provide weekly tips, recipes, an interactive blog, prizes and more. The site also includes information and resources for a healthier lifestyle.
