MOUNTAINVIEW HOSPITAL PLANS CLASS FOR NEW DADS
A Daddy Marines class is planned from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at MountainView Hospital, 3100 N. Tenaya Way. This class is designed to prepare new dads to assist in the care of mom and baby after leaving the hospital.

OPEN HOUSE TO ADDRESS CONSTRUCTION AT RED ROCK CANYON
The Bureau of Land Management's Red Rock/Sloan Field Office plans to host an open house from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with short overview presentations planned for 2 and 6 p.m., at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center.
The public can participate in an environmental assessment that analyzes the construction of Zone 2 of the State Route 159 Multi-Use Trail within Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Zone 2 starts at the Scenic Loop Drive and visitor entrance road and parallels state Route 159 until it connects to the Scenic Loop Drive exit parking lot.
At the Scenic Loop Drive fee booth, tell the attendant you are attending the public meeting, and you will not be required to pay to enter.

MILITARY BRIDES CAN GET FREE GOWNS
Couture Bride plans to honor military brides with free designer wedding gowns beginning at 8 a.m. Friday at its showroom, 950 S. Durango Drive.
Gowns will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Brides are encouraged to come early to secure their place in line, as there is a limited supply.
To qualify, brides or their fiance must be on active duty in the military, either currently deployed or deployed within the last five years, to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Libya or Japan. Identification and deployment papers must be presented at the event to qualify.

HEALTH FAIR SET AT SUNCOAST FRIDAY
A health fair presented by the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Lake Mead District, is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive.
It is open to all active and retired federal employees and will provide the opportunity to speak directly with representatives of Federal Employees Health Benefits providers. In addition to the many returning local vendors, there also will be several new ones representing legal, community, medical and senior interests.

BLM TO WAIVE RECREATION FEES FOR VETERANS DAY WEEKEND
The Bureau of Land Management, in conjunction with other agencies within the U.S. Department of the Interior, plans to waive recreation-related fees for visitors to the National System of Public Lands for Veterans Day weekend, Friday through Sunday.
These fee-free days also apply to areas managed within the BLM's National Landscape Conservation System. Site-standard amenity and individual day-use fees at BLM recreation sites and areas will be waived. Other fees, such as overnight camping, cabin rentals and group day use, will remain in effect.

FRESH52 FARMERS MARKET TO OFFER CANNING CLASSES AT TIVOLI VILLAGE
Three canning classes are planned at the fresh52 Farmers & Artisan Market at Tivoli Village, 302 S. Rampart Blvd. All classes are set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday's class is on water bath and pressure canning and costs $80. The Nov. 16 class is on pickling and costs $40. The Nov. 18 class covers jam and applesauce and costs $40.

JEWISH WAR VETERANS TO HOST BABY SHOW FOR AIRMEN FAMILIES
The Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary Post 21 is planning a baby shower for the airmen families of Nellis Air Force Base at 11 a.m. Monday at Atria Seville, 2000 N. PETCO COLLECTING PET FOOD THROUGH SUNDAY
Petco and the Petco Foundation announce the National Pet Food Drive through Sunday.
Shoppers can pick up extra food or litter during their shopping trip or bring unopened cans or bags from home and drop it into specially marked pet food collection bins at each of the more than 1,100 Petco and Unleashed by Petco stores nationwide. Throughout the drive, Hill's Science Diet will match, pound for pound, every bag of dog and cat food donated, up to 100,000 pounds.
Since the National Pet Food Bank program launched in March 2010, nearly 1 million pounds of pet food and litter have been distributed to families in need.

MEDICARE SEMINAR SET AT LAS VENTANAS
For seniors who have Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan, the Las Ventanas retirement community plans to host a Medicare seminar at 1 p.m. Nov. 17 at its facility, 10401 W. Charleston Blvd.
A licensed speaker on Medigap/Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans will be on hand to answer questions.
