GET $75 MAMMOGRAMS IN OCTOBER
To celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Breast Center at Sunrise and Southern Hills hospitals and Red Rock Radiology at MountainView Hospital are offering $75 digital-screening mammograms through Oct. 31 for women who may be uninsured or underinsured.
Program participants must be at least 40 years old, and a physician's referral is not required. If you have insurance, your mammogram may be covered.

FUNDRAISER FITNESS CLASS SET
A fundraiser fitness class is planned from 6 to 7 a.m. Oct. 27 at Willows Park, 2775 Desert Marigold Lane.
It will benefit the Berry family of Texas, victims of a car accident. Parents Josh and Robin were killed, and their children, Peter, 9, and Aaron, 8, suffered serious injuries. Their third child, Willa, 6, faced less serious injuries. In addition to losing their parents, the children are faced with mounting medical expenses.
The minimum donation is $10 per person. All fitness levels are welcome. RSVPs are due today by calling 338-9460.
SALON TO HOST FUNDRAISING EVENT
Smiles for Survivors Foundation plans to host its inaugural Blow Out Breast Cancer fundraising event from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Square Colour Salon + Spa, 1225 S. Fort Apache Road, Suite 160. The event is open to women and men and includes salon treatments, food, champagne, live music and a silent auction.
Smiles for Survivors is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of cancer treatment's impact on oral health, providing necessary dental care for breast cancer patients and survivors and offering breast cancer education. Tickets for the event vary based on salon services. All proceeds go to the foundation. All services will be performed by Square's stylists and beauty technicians.

ENJOY FAMILY GAME NIGHT AT VETERANS MEMORIAL LEISURE SERVICES CENTER
A family game night for all ages is planned from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive.
The entire family can enjoy board games together or challenge other families to tic-tac-toe, Connect Four, Battleship and more. The cost is $3 per family.

ELEMENT HOTEL TO HOST ECO HOME FAIR
The Eco Home Fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Element Hotel, 10555 Discovery Drive, near the Las Vegas Beltway and Town Center Drive.
The special guest speaker is scheduled to be ocean activist and ex-combat diver Scott Cassell, who has been featured on the History Channel, Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel. Cassell plans to talk about his efforts to save sharks and his recent encounter with the giant Humboldt squid.

LOSE A POUND WITH YOUR HOUND ANNUAL MEMORY WALK SET FOR SUNDAY
Lose A Pound With Your Hound, Heaven Can Wait Animal Society's 11th annual memory walk, is planned for Sunday at W. Wayne Bunker Family Park, 7351 W. Alexander Road. Registration is scheduled for 9 a.m. and the walk for 10 a.m. The event is planned to feature games, prizes, treats and a mile-long walk lined with symbolic "collars" representing the 30,000 animals euthanized every year in Las Vegas.
Participation and pledges promote responsible pet ownership, educational programs and HCW's spay and neuter clinic. Participation fees are $25 in advance, $30 the day of the walk, $40 for a family four-pack and free for children 5 or younger. Register online at hcws.org.
TRAVEL CLUB TO MEET AT TAP HOUSE OCT. 25
The Las Vegas Single Social and Travel Club for Mature Adults plans to meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Tap House, 5589 W. Charleston Blvd.

HEALING HEROES GOLF TOURNAMENT COMING TO RED ROCK COUNTRY CLUB
Red Rock Country Club plans to host a fundraiser golf tournament to benefit Healing Heroes Network Nov. 2 at its facility, 2250 Red Springs Road. Check-in is scheduled to begin at 7:15 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
HHN is a nonprofit organization that helps returning veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq.

MAKING STRIDES BRINGS IN $285,000 FOR CANCER SOCIETY
The American Cancer Society announced that more than $285,000 was raised at its 12th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event on Oct. 1 at the JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd. More than 6,000 people participated in the 5K walk.
The money will fund breast cancer research, provide information and ensure all women have access to breast cancer screening and treatments, regardless of income.
GOLDEN RETRIEVER RESCUE RAISES $1,000
The Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Nevada hosted a reunion barbecue and fundraiser Oct. 1 at Doggie District Pet Resort, 3223 N. Rainbow Blvd., that raised about $1,100.

US FOREST SERVICE OFFERS FIREWOOD PERMITS
The U.S. Forest Service is selling firewood permits on a first-come, first-served basis for firewood at the future Middle Kyle Visitor Complex, Old Mill Picnic Area and Cathedral Rock Picnic Area.
Permits are $20 each and entitle the holder to one cord of firewood.
Permits are available at the Forest Service Office, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive. Permit holders need to pick up their firewood by Nov. 30 and are strongly encouraged to bring chain saws to cut the firewood into manageable pieces.
