Summerlin bowls over residents
Bowling was once again added to Summerlin's recreational amenities with the newly opened Red Rock Lanes at Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa.
The 72-lane bowling center opened in April and features state-of-the-art bowling equipment and the most advanced audio and visual systems ever created for a bowling venue, according to Lori Nelson, director of corporate communications for the resort.
Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Red Rock Lanes features a pro shop; arcade; meeting rooms; welcome center; deli; and lounge complete with bar, self-scoring dart boards, custom billiard tables, shuffleboard, an array of plasma TVs and a separate 12-lane VIP suite.
A custom panoramic image of Red Rock Canyon runs the length of the bowling concourse.
"The design of the bowling center reflects the modern contemporary design of the resort that features some of the finest natural woods and stones," Nelson said. "High-tech computer systems can instantly transform the bowling facility into a party environment that includes custom glow lighting effects, strobes, fog machines, image generators and disco balls."
According to Tom Warden, vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties and developer of Summerlin, Red Rock Casino infused tremendous energy into the community when it opened last year.
"The property's many restaurants, nightclubs, entertainment venues, movie theatres and swimming pool complex all contribute to the many social offerings of Summerlin," he said. "It's great to have the world's best-looking high-tech bowling center right here in our community. Red Rock Lanes is definitely not your grandmother's bowling alley."
Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. The 22,500-acre master-planned community is located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.
The community is home to more than 93,000 residents. With 7,500 acres still to develop, including its urban core, Summerlin Centre, Summerlin includes more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 120 completed miles of the Summerlin Trail System, 19 public and private schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical, cultural and business facilities and more than 60 model homes.
Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the low $200,000s to more than $1 million. Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the low $1,000s.
