Summerlin named best planned community in Best of Nevada poll

Summerlin was named Best Master-Planned Community at The Best of Nevada Real Estate Awards event Aug. 11.

The awards ceremony was part of the third annual International Real Estate Expo and Conference. Award winners were determined by a public vote.

According to Kevin Orrock, top division executive of The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties and developer of Summerlin, the community is honored with this recognition, especially since it reflects public sentiment.

"As one of Southern Nevada's original master-planned communities and national award-winners, Summerlin has earned its place as one of the premier communities in Las Vegas," Orrock said. "Today, Summerlin is home to more than 95,000 residents and will eventually be called home by more than 200,000 Southern Nevadans when complete."

Approaching its 18th year of development, Summerlin helped to set the standards by which all other communities are measured in our valley.

As we develop Summerlin's remaining acreage, we are continuing to develop the community with the same commitment to quality of life and high development standards for which Summerlin has come to be known."

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990 and is located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.

It encompasses 22,500 acres and features an unparalleled number of amenities, including 100-plus neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, 22 public and private schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks and more than 60 model homes.

Single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and lofts are available.

Homes are priced from the low $200,000s to more than $1 million.

Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s.

Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the low $1,000s. For more information on Summerlin, visit summerlin.com or call 791-4500.
