Summerlin promotes villages

Nearly 50 condominium, townhome and loft floor plans are currently selling in five villages of the master-planned community of Summerlin.

According to Peggy Chandler, senior vice president of community development for The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties and developer of Summerlin, multi-family housing options are becoming more popular for today's home buyers seeking a simpler and more convenient, low-maintenance lifestyle.

"Higher density housing options are leading the new home buying market in many communities nationwide - including Summerlin," said Chandler.

"Today's home buyers want the benefits of home ownership without the demands of yard work and routine maintenance of single-family homes. It's a growing preference among the next generation of home buyers."

All of Summerlin's multi-family housing neighborhoods feature the same abundant amenities found in many single-family-home neighborhoods, which typically include a park area, pool and spa, and children's play areas.

Multi-family neighborhoods currently selling in Summerlin include Altessa in The Vistas village; C2 Lofts, West Park Courtyards and West Park Villas in Summerlin Centre; Coronado in The Paseos village; Fairway Hills in the luxury village of The Ridges; and Mira Villa in The Canyons village.

Combined, these home floor plans range from 684 to 3,917 square feet and are priced from the low $200,000s to more than $1 million.

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. It is a 22,500-acre master-planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.

The community features an unparalleled number of amenities and is currently home to more than 95,000 residents.

With 7,500 acres still to develop, including its urban core, Summerlin Centre, Summerlin is continuing to unfold as the country's premier master-planned community.

The community is home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin Trail System, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks and more than 60 model homes.

Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the low $200,000s to more than $2 million.

Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the low $1,000s.
