Summerlin puts focus on outdoor recreation with Sticker Kit campaign
The cars, boats and other RVs of residents in the master-planned community of Summerlin may soon be sporting a new look, thanks to a community pride campaign highlighting outdoor activities.
According to Nikkole Liesse, marketing director for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of the community, every homeowner in Summerlin will soon receive a Summerlin Sticker Kit that includes seven window stickers made for automobiles and recreational vehicles.
The stickers showcase the wide array of recreational activities popular in the community, including rock climbing, cycling, golf, motorbiking, soccer and hiking.
"Residents of Summerlin have many reasons to be proud of where they live...." Liesse said.
"Today, Summerlin is a premier address in Southern Nevada, known for its natural and man-made beauty, plentiful amenities and first-rate lifestyle."
According to Scott Robertson, creative director of Robertson Wood Advertising, which oversaw development of the Summerlin Sticker Kit, outdoor recreation is a passion shared by many residents of the upscale community located on the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley.
"The various stickers give residents an opportunity to choose the stickers that best reflect their own individual interests, then share their passion and community pride by putting it on their cars and other vehicles," Robertson said.
"Who knows? The stickers may very well serve as great conversation starters and eventually connect like-minded community residents who share similar outdoor interests."
The Sticker Kits, labeled "Say it Loud, Say it Proud," are being mailed this week to residents along with the community's annual survey, a comprehensive measuring tool for The Howard Hughes Corp. to assess resident satisfaction, amenity usage, and help plan for future development.
According to Liesse, the Sticker Kit is an evolution of a program started in the early '90s during Summerlin's infancy.
"For several years, new Summerlin residents received custom Summerlin license plate holders for their cars when they purchased a home in the community," she said.
"Today, those license plate holders are still visible on every road and highway in the Las Vegas Valley and serve as a constant reminder of the pride residents have for their community. We fully expect the Summerlin window stickers to become the newest symbol of Summerlin pride -- not unlike the stickers spotted today on automobiles in Europe and along California beach cities."
Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties Inc., Summerlin began to take shape in 1990.
