Summerlin residents open new restaurant

Summerlin residents Roland and Gail Levi recently opened their sixth restaurant, Six Tables, in the Pueblo Place shopping center located at 2110 N. Rampart Blvd. on the southeast corner of Lake Mead Boulevard in The Pueblo Village in Summerlin.

The quaint restaurant, with literally only six tables, offers guests a unique fine-dining experience.

According to Gail Levi, the restaurant is a very personal business for her and her husband of 22 years.

"We like to think everyone is our individual guest for the night and they are dining in our home," she said. "Dining is as much about the experience as it is about great food, and our guests are sure to enjoy both."

Six Tables features eggplant-colored walls, traditional dining room tables, gold chairs, crisp white linens and bone china of assorted patterns that date back 100 years.

"We believe beauty is in the simple details," said Gail Levi, who hand-selected most of the décor for the restaurant.

Though new to Las Vegas, Six Tables and the Levis aren't new to the culinary industry. In fact, 68-year-old Roland Levi recently celebrated his 50th year in the industry.

The Belgium-born chef was trained at L'Ecole Culinaire des Arts et Metiers in Brussels in 1957. In the 1970s, he moved to the United States and married. A few years later, the couple formed a successful personal chef service, which took them to New York City where they often prepared meals for presidents, prime ministers and kings.

"It was a very exciting time for us," he said.

In 1998, the couple opened their first restaurant in Dunedin, near St. Petersburg, Fla. -- the place the Levis thought they would retire. The success of the restaurant encouraged them to open five additional locations throughout the United States, and eventually move to Las Vegas.

The opening of a Six Tables restaurant in Las Vegas was a dream come true for Roland.

"Renowned chefs from throughout the world have come to Las Vegas to open restaurants and we want to be among the best," he said.

"Our restaurant and our home are minutes from each other," Gail Levi said. We love the community and consider it a great place to live and entertain."

Six Tables is a reservation-only restaurant with a six-course, pre-fixed, $90-per-person meal.

Menu items typically include hors d'oeuvres, lobster bisque, heart of Romaine salad, sorbet, a main entrée, poached pear and stilton with a glass of port and Belgian profiteroles.

Entrees include chateaubriand-béarnaise, rack of venison, duckling a l'orange, baby rack or lamb or fresh seafood. All dishes are made from fresh ingredients and dinner is served Tuesday through Sunday precisely at 7 p.m.

Dozens of restaurants are located throughout the master-planned community and more are on their way, according to Tom Warden, vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

"The community's abundant restaurants are popular with valley residents," he said. "In fact, many restaurants have ranked among the valley's best. We're pleased with the quantity, diversity and caliber of dining establishments in Summerlin -- the community is truly a great place to dine and simply pass time."

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990 and is located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley. It encompasses 22,500 acres with about 9,000 acres still remaining to accommodate future growth within the master plan, including the community's urban core of Summerlin Centre.

The community is currently home to more than 95,000 residents.

Amenities include more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks, 22 public and private schools and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.

Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the mid-$200,000s to more than $2 million.

Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $900s.
