Summerlin School Days to be held today and Sunday at Villa Trieste neighborhood

Summerlin School Days, a three-week back-to-school promotion, concludes today and Sunday with a variety of activities at Villa Trieste, Summerlin's first "green" neighborhood.

Villa Trieste by Pulte Homes is located at 1918 Morro Vista Drive in Summerlin Centre West, near Interstate 215. The Las Vegas Beltway, and West Sahara Boulevard. The activities are free and open to the public.

The Public Education Foundation's Teacher Exchange van will be onsite to collect donations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday. Representatives from the foundation will also be onsite during those hours.

Teacher exchange is a resource center for all Southern Nevada public school teachers offering learning tools to enhance projects and curriculum. Donations of new and reusable materials, office supplies, surplus materials, computers, office equipment and furniture are collected from businesses and individuals and provided at no charge to teachers for use in the classroom. Whole Foods Market will offer healthy food for lunches today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Art Starts Here will showcase a variety of eco-friendly children's art projects from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Art Starts Here is a privately owned and operated art school for students of all ages. The Summerlin-based company offers classes, summer camps, workshops, private lessons and special events.

Visitors can also enter to win one of three $500 back-to-school shopping sprees at Fashion Show and/or Meadows Mall in addition to the grand prize of a new laptop computer.

"Summerlin School Days is designed to showcase the community's 25 public and private schools while providing fun, interactive activities for students of all ages," said Nikkole Liesse, marketing director for Summerlin.

Villa Trieste is a 185-home neighborhood and the first residential development in the Southwestern United States to provide as standard features in every home a combination of solar power, LEED certification and Environments for Living building methods.

Homes at Villa Trieste range from 1,487 to 1,960 square feet. Prices start in the low-$200,000s.
