Summerlin stores ring in holidays
December 16, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Retail stores in the master-planned community of Summerlin are awash in the colors and trimmings of the holiday season, according to Tom Warden, vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.
"Tis the season for holiday shopping, and Summerlin is the place to do it with more than 1 million square feet of retail space in the community," he said. "Summerlin has evolved as a popular location for retailers with the community's strong consumer demographics and neighborhood-style retail centers that accommodate both large anchor and small boutique shops," Warden said.
Included in Summerlin's retail lineup are more than a dozen shopping centers of varying sizes with additional centers under development, including a 1.6 million-square-foot regional retail center under development in Summerlin Centre.
Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties Inc., Summerlin is a 22,500-acre master-planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley. With about 7,500 acres still to develop, including its urban core, Summerlin Centre, the master plan continues to unfold.
With a population of more than 95,000, Summerlin is home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, cultural facilities, business parks and 22 public and private schools.
Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condos and lofts -- priced from the upper $200,000s to more than $2 million.
