Summerlin’s The Ridges features fitness facility

Homeowners in The Ridges at Summerlin have access to their own private, 9,000-square-foot fitness facility, Club Ridges. The facility is for the exclusive use of Ridges residents and their guests.

Located at 11550 Granite Ridge Drive, Club Ridges features a 2,400-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness room and a 1,300-square-foot aerobic area with custom low-impact flooring. The club also houses a tennis lounge as well as locker and steam rooms. Exterior amenities include five lighted tennis courts, including one championship court, a family-style resort pool and a year-round, 82-degree, heated lap pool.

The clubhouse also offers a variety of recreational programming, including weekly fitness classes and seasonal youth classes, camps and clinics.

According to Dr. Darian Parker, general manager at Club Ridges, programming is designed to meet the needs and interests of residents while staying current with the latest trends.

Current class offerings include yoga; willpower and grace, a barefoot cardio fusion class; and spinamics, a class that combines spinning and body sculpting. Class sizes range from five to 10 participants to allow for intimate, one-on-one training opportunities, he said.

Planned camps and clinics include tennis instruction taught by tennis pro Jason Harman, as well as a variety of aquatic programs planned for the summer season. Club Ridges also offers a hiking series at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Youth activities include a variety of social and recreational programs, including crafts, swimming, games and exercise fundamentals.

"It's all about allowing the kids to have fun and be young while learning how to be healthy and happy," Parker said.

Club Ridges is equally social and recreational, according to Parker.

"There's a unique culture here not typical of fitness clubs -- it's laid back, intimate and personal," he said. "It's where neighbors meet and enjoy quality, worthwhile time together with friends and family."

Club Ridges complements the existing amenities already located in The Ridges, including one of the world's first Bear's Best golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus as well as miles of trails ideal for walking, running or cycling. The Ridges also offers immediate proximity to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, ideal for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.

According to Kevin Orrock, executive vice president of master-planned communities for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, there are many advantages to living in The Ridges.

"The Ridges boasts resort-style amenities, luxurious living, sophisticated landscaping and dramatic views -- all of which combine to create the most coveted address in Las Vegas," he said.

The Ridges is a nearly 800-acre, guard-gated luxury residential village that features some of the most dramatic and stunning natural topography in Las Vegas.

Three years after The Howard Hughes Corp. commenced development on The Ridges, it was named America's third most exclusive gated community in America by Forbes.com.

To date, nearly 300 custom-home sites have been sold in The Ridges, and more than 40 new homes are under active construction or are in the design review process. Currently, the neighborhood of Falcon Ridge has only a few remaining home sites available for sale and Azure is actively selling.

Custom-home sites in The Ridges are priced starting in the high $200,000s to more than $1 million. Lot sizes range from one-quarter to one acre, with a limited number larger than one acre. Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. In the past two decades several national and regional studies have ranked it in the country's top 10 best-selling master-planned communities.

Located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with about 7,500 acres still remaining to accommodate future growth. The community is currently home to nearly 100,000 residents.

Amenities include more than 150 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 miles of the Summerlin trail system, 26 public and private schools, 14 houses of worship, nine golf courses, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks and more than three dozen actively selling floor plans.
