JEWISH SINGLES TO MEET WEDNESDAY

The Jewish Singles 55 plus Social Club for men and women plans to meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jewish Community Center building of Temple Sinai's campus, 9001 Hillpointe Road. Guests are welcome. There is no cost to attend. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month. There will be refreshments and a time to mingle.

WESTSIDE NEWCOMERS INVITED TO CLUB MEETING

The Westside Newcomers Club plans to host a coffee event for prospective members at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane. The coffee events are planned for the first Wednesday of each month.

WNC is a social club for women who have lived in the area for 10 years or less or for those who have life-changing events, such as retirement. It offers a variety of activities. LAS VEGAS BUSINESS NETWORK MIXER SET FOR JAN. 8 AT SUNCOAST

The Las Vegas Business Network Mixer is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive. The theme is baby boomers, as more than 600,000 of them are in Las Vegas, and many will have businesses in the exhibiting area.

Visit the Chefs Corner for food samples and expect $2,000 in raffle drawing prizes.

Admission is $10 or free with tickets handed out at Storage West's 14 locations and at Findlay Chevrolet, 6800 S. Torrey Pines Drive.

JW MARRIOTT JOINS CANCER SOCIETY PROGRAM AS HOST HOTEL

The JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd., has partnered with the American Cancer Society as a host hotel for remote cancer patients treated in Las Vegas.

Those diagnosed with cancer who need to travel more than 50 miles to Las Vegas qualify for the program and are put up at host hotels.

TRAVEL FAIR COMING JAN. 12 TO SUMMERLIN LIBRARY

Travel Fair: Your Vacation Awaits is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.

The day is slated to include presentations on cruises, vacationing at home, budget travel, making the most of discount travel services, fun family vacations and traveling abroad. DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY SERVICES SEEKS FOSTER HOMES

The Clark County Department of Family Services is seeking members of the public willing to become foster parents. The program involves individuals and families providing safe, stable and loving environments for children in need of temporary out-of-home care.

EXTRA WEEKEND ADDED FOR LEE CANYON SNOWSHOE CAMP

Each year, Clark County Parks and Recreation provides a guided snowshoe hike and camping trip at Lee Canyon. The weekend program offers hikes through the Bristlecone Loop, including a night hike in the Lee Canyon Meadow for some stargazing and an interpretative hike with the U.S. Forest Service.

Participants spend the night in heated, rustic cabins equipped with bunk beds. A pancake breakfast is provided on Sunday morning, but participants are responsible for all other food and bedding.

This year, additional dates have been added due to the camp's growing popularity. Space is limited, and snowshoes are available for the first 20 people who sign up. Snowshoes may also be rented at local outdoor outfitters. The family-friendly event is $15 per person.

YOUTH FOUNDATION BENEFITS FROM PT'S GENEROSITY

PT's Entertainment Group, operator of PT's and Sierra Gold taverns, donated $25,000 to the Shane Victorino Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting opportunities for underserved youths. The foundation engages in projects that provide children in need with educational, recreational and wellness programs.

CHEFS FOR KIDS PLAN 5K RUN AND 1 MILE FUN WALK FOR JAN. 19

The Chefs for Kids 5K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk is scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 19 at W. Wayne Bunker Family Park, 7351 W. Alexander Road.

Each runner/walker will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt, a goodie bag and a free pancake breakfast. There also will be a raffle.

The Las Vegas Track Club will provide race bibs and computerized timing. Trophies will be awarded in each age category, which begin with 12-year-olds.

Participant fees are $25 for adults for the 5K and $20 for the fun walk, $20 for children 12 or younger and per runner for groups of 10 or more. Race-day fee is $35. Online registration is available at active.com, or mail checks payable to LVTC to P.O. Box 30134, Las Vegas, NV 89173.

Packet pickup will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 18 or on race day from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at the Red Rock Running Company, 7350 W. Cheyenne Ave. Fifty percent of the registration fee will go to Chefs for Kids Inc.

U.S. TENNIS ASSOCIATION-NEVADA SEEKS DONATED EQUIPMENT

The United States Tennis Association-Nevada is asking for donations of old wooden tennis rackets, usable tennis rackets, old trophies, ball machines, items for a silent auction or raffle, a digital photo camera, an office phone system and computers or laptops.

Items can be dropped off at the USTA-Nevada office, 1333 N. Buffalo Drive, Suite 130.

HOSPICE PET THERAPY PROGRAM SEEKS DOG BEDS AND BLANKETS

Nathan Adelson Hospice's Pet Therapy Program is promoting its second annual Dog Bed & Blanket Drive to benefit local animal shelters.

Through Jan. 31, Nathan Adelson Hospice and the Jolley Urga Wirth Woodbury & Standish law firm will be collecting new or gently used dog beds and blankets, towels and unopened dog food.

Donations can be dropped off at any of the Nathan Adelson Hospice locations: 4141 Swenson St.; in the MountainView Medical Office Building, 3150 N. Tenaya Way, Suite 350; 1401 S. Highway 160, Suite B, Pahrump; and 1201 Nevada State Drive, Henderson. They also can be dropped off to attorneys Holly Fic and Jennifer Poynter-Willis at the Jolley Urga Wirth Woodbury & Standish law firm, 3800 Howard Hughes Parkway, Suite 1600.
