MOUNTAINVIEW HOSPITAL OPENS
SECOND HALF OF NEW EMERGENCY ROOM

MountainView Hospital, 3100 N. Tenaya Way, announces the opening of the second half of its new emergency room, bringing the number of private ER beds to 42. This second-phase expansion doubles the size of the previous ER.

New features include an expanded ambulance entrance and a helipad near the ER. Also opening in late June was the third floor of the hospital’s south tower with 32 new patient beds, bringing the hospital’s bed count to 323.

MountainView debuted the first phase of expansion in January, with the first half of its remodeled ER and new patient tower. The tower, at about 92,000 square feet, has new patient units, including a new 12-bed intensive care unit on the first floor and 32 new private Primary Care Unit patient suites on the second floor. The newly built-out third floor will house an additional 32 private PCU suites.

LARGE VISION BUSINESS NETWORK MIXER
SET FOR JULY 2 AT THE SUNCOAST

The Large Vision Business Network plans to host its next mixer from 6 to 9 p.m. July 2 at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive. The theme is the seventh-anniversary gala. More than 50 area businesses are scheduled to showcase their products and services. The Chefs Corner is slated to serve up bites of international flavors.

PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS INVITED TO JOIN WESTSIDE NEWCOMERS JULY 3

The Westside Newcomers Club plans to host a coffee event for prospective members at 10:30 a.m. July 3 at Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane. The coffee events are planned for the first Wednesday of each month.

The social club is for women who have lived in the area for 10 years or less or those who have life-changing events, such as retirement. FREE ASTROLOGY CLASSES TO BEGIN JULY 10

VALLEY HEALTH SYSTEM HOSPITALS TO HOST BLOOD DRIVES july 11

Valley Health System Hospitals plans to host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 11 in the first-floor conference room of Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, 657 N. Town Center Drive.

All donors will receive two complimentary tickets to The Laugh Factory, and donors in July can enter to win a trip to Los Angeles and a VIP tour of Warner Brothers Studios. July donors will also receive an American Red Cross beach towel while supplies last. Those donating blood through July 15 will be entered into a drawing for a $3,000 gift card. CITY TO ACCEPT LAND USE APPLICATIONS
AND PLANS ONLINE

The city of Las Vegas plans to accept land use applications and plans online, including general plan amendments, rezoning requests, site plan reviews, variances and special use permits. Residents, engineers and architects can go through the entire zoning process from their computer rather than visiting the Development Services Center, 333 N. Rancho Drive.

Future plans are to have the mapping process, civil plans, engineering plans and building permits available for submittal and review online as well.

For those without scanning capabilities at home, a kiosk at the Development Services Center will be offered for customers to scan their plans and submit them electronically. The online process should take five to 10 minutes.

Training sessions have been scheduled for customers to learn the new system. July sessions are scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. July 18 and July 23 at Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St., in the first-floor Human Resources training rooms.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION
TO IMPLEMENT SERVICE CHANGES JULY 7

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada plans to implement its annual transit service change July 7.

After receiving public feedback, modifications will include increased frequencies, schedule and span-of-service adjustments, in addition to modifications to the Boulder Highway Express (BHX), Henderson & Downtown Express (HDX), Route 212-Sunset Road and Route 402-Sunset/Boulder City. Also, boarding changes are proposed on the Sahara Express (SX), BHX and HDX.

BANK OF AMERICA LAUNCHES FUNDRAISER FOR VETERANS

Bank of America is launching a major fundraising initiative called Express Your Thanks to benefit veterans of the Wounded Warrior Project and Welcome Back Veterans, an initiative of Major League Baseball Charities.

The goal is to raise $1 million for these charities that work to support veterans as they return from war. Running through Veterans Day (Nov. 11), anyone can participate by taking a photo, creating a video or writing a message of support and sharing it onbankofamerica.com/troopthanks. They also can post on Twitter with the hashtag #troopthanks. For every message posted, Bank of America will donate $1 to Wounded Warriors and Welcome Back Veterans.
