Clark County Parks and Recreation is seeking art submissions to be displayed at the Day of the Dead exhibition scheduled Oct. 23 through Nov. 3 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Works must relate to the holiday, which celebrates the lives of past and present loved ones. Artists must be 14 or older and residents of Clark County. None injured in East valley fire

An Aug. 2 fire in the attic of a two-story home at 5647 Fairlight Drive caused an estimated $15,000 in damage. No one was home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Children preparing to enter kindergarten are invited to Kindergarten Countdown scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Whitney Library, 5175 E. blackjacks plan Rugby practice

The Las Vegas Blackjacks rugby team is scheduled to practice at 7 p.m. today and Wednesday at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. The group practices at the park regularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the off-season. Anyone interested in rugby is invited to participate.
