Susan Rice is out, and that’s a good thing

Contrary to bleating of the status quo political and media establishments in Washington, D.C., Susan Rice pulling out of consideration for the Secretary of State post is a good thing.

Her misstatements and, let's be honest, outright willingness to cover-up for the Administration on Benghazi made her a poor choice for the American people.

The media says she was caught in a snare set by the crafty right wing. Or, she was "too blunt" and "too honest" for her own good.

Oh, for goodness sake. Let's get real. If she were indeed "too honest" she would never have been in this mess. And, if the right wing were that kind of Sherlock Holmes smart, Obama would not have been re-elected.

After the Benghazi debacle, in which the president himself called the attack terrorism, Susan Rice at the coaching to the White House (at that time embroiled in a re-election campaign) had Rice tell the American people that, essentially, "there was nothing big to see here."

It all stemmed from a video and a protest. There was no terrorism to worry about. And, certainly, "unfortunate" burnings of American embassies in the Middle-East had nothing to do with the popularity of Obama in the Muslim world. Obama is as "popular" as ever and his policies are working, she said. She clearly was sent out on a mission of deception. Had she had enough integrity to ask her briefers a few simple follow-up question -- like why the president called the act terror while she's being sent out to say essentially it was not, she might not have allowed herself to get put into this cover-up.

But she didn't. She passed along the lie.

Again, let me remind you that the Susan Rice appointment or the ex-CIA director's affair with his biographer are only pieces in the larger puzzle. Don't get distracted.

What really happened at Benghazi and what, exactly did our government and president do that night remain stonewalled questions by President Obama. I think the president under reacted to the whole deal because he drinks his own bathwater when it comes to Muslim extremism. I think he just went to bed, curled up in a ball and hoped it would all turn out better in the morning.

Of course, it didn't.

What we do know is the president did not do all that he could do to keep safe Americans in Libya. And now, after the fact, he's doing all that he can to cover-up what exactly happened.

The president is not coming clean with the people. And you gotta wonder why.
