Tale of the tape

I thought Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post had it right in assessing the secret taping by Scott Ashjian of Sharron Angle as she met with the faux Tea Party candidate.

Said Kurtz: "I'm not sure it hurts her. Why? Because many voters will probably sympathize with her for the surreptitious taping." Kurtz called the secret taping a "down-and-dirty trick" but also said it was "political malpractice for Angle to take the meeting," although "she obviously never expected to be taped."

The phrase "down-and-dirty trick" reminds me to remind you: Harry Reid campaign surrogate, Jon Ralston, was the first to report the taping. He works for financial supporters of Harry Reid, touts the only poll that shows Reid ahead and criticizes the many polls that show Angle tied or ahead of Reid (such as the Fox News poll this morning that has Angle, 49 and Reid, 46.)

It should raise all sorts of questions about who was really behind the taping. And it ought to remind us all to be wary as we enter the last 30 days of this hotly contested campaign, otherwise known in Nevada as the "down-and-dirty trick" season.
