Tea Party group touts Sandoval, criticizes Reid

A Nevada-based group for Tea Party activists has sent a missive in support of Republican Brian Sandoval for governor, despite having endorsed Gov. Jim Gibbons over Sandoval in the Republican primary.

Action is Brewing, a Reno-based group that hosted debates and endorsed candidates in the primary, sent an e-mail late Tuesday that accused Sandoval's Democratic opponent Rory Reid of making false statements about Sandoval.

The mailer is significant because during the primary Sandoval had been the subject of criticism from some Tea Party quarters who said he wasn't conservative enough and favored Gibbons.

Sandoval went on to cruise to a big win over Gibbons in the June 8 primary and now faces Reid, chairman of the Clark County Commission and son of Senate majority leader Harry Reid, in the general election.
