Tenants to open in Vistas Commons
December 1, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Several new tenants will soon open in Summerlin's newest shopping center, Vista Commons, according to Summerlin officials. Located on nearly 13 acres at the corner of Desert Foothills Drive and Charleston Boulevard in The Vistas Village, Vista Commons is a European-inspired center that opened in September anchored by Albertsons.
Opening soon in Vista Commons will be Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America, Boston Cleaners, Mark Rich's New York Pizza & Pasta and Rachel's Kitchen.
Mark Rich's New York Pizza & Pasta is a 2,500-square-foot restaurant that will offer dine-in, pickup and delivery service, according to its proprietors. Scheduled to open by mid-December, the restaurant will offer a variety of dishes all made to order. Menu highlights will include pizzas, pastas, calzones, sandwiches and salads -- with lunch specials start at $4.99.
Linda Poole, co-owner of the restaurant along with Mark Rich, said the eatery's signature dish will be hand-tossed. New York-style thin-crust pizza.
"And it's not just called New York pizza -- it is New York pizza," said Poole, a New York native. "Not only do we have a huge fan base amongst East Coast transplants, we make new fans every day. There's nothing like real New York-style pizza."
In addition to the tastes of New York, the restaurant's interior also will pay tribute to the Big Apple with brick and stucco walls and park benches gracing the waiting area.
"We're imitating the New York experience," said Poole. "The look, feel and taste of New York will be enjoyed in the restaurant and in its dishes."
Mark Rich, a New Jersey native, has more than 30 years of experience in the Las Vegas restaurant and hospitality business but claims that opening his newest restaurant in Summerlin is a landmark accomplishment for him.
"We hand-selected this location for our restaurant well before construction on the project commenced," Rich said. "This is where we want to be, and we feel a little like we've arrived now that we're in Summerlin."
"During the past few years, the number of restaurants in Summerlin has quadrupled," said Tom Warden, vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "The community has come into its own as a dining and entertainment destination not only for community residents, but for the entire Las Vegas Valley."
Vista Commons is one of several amenities located in The Vistas Village. Others include three community parks, dozens of neighborhood parks, miles of walking and cycling trails, Linda Givens Elementary School and dozens of residential neighborhoods.
Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties Inc., Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. It is a 22,500-acre master-planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.
The community is home to more than 95,000 residents with new ones arriving every week. With about 7,500 acres still to develop, including its urban core, Summerlin Centre, Summerlin continues to unfold.
Summerlin is home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, business parks, 22 public and private schools and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.
Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the upper $200,000s to more than $2 million.
Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $900s.
