THARP NAMED NEVADA BALLET’S ‘WOMAN OF THE YEAR’

Tony Award winner Twyla Tharp will be honored by the Nevada Ballet Theatre as the “Woman of the Year” at The Black & White Ball in January.

Tharp’s collaboration on “Movin' Out” with Billy Joel won her a Tony in 2003. She also won two Emmy Awards. Her credentials include 135 works, five Hollywood movies, three Broadway shows and two books.

She was choreographer and director of “Movin’ Out,” which ran for 1,307 performances before closing in December 2005. The lead piano player and singer was Michael Cavanaugh, who was discovered at Times Square, the dueling piano bar at New York-New York.
