The Bluffs builds ‘green’ semi-custom residences

Pacific Southwest Development's newest luxury collection is going green.

The Bluffs, located beyond the builder's Tuscan Cliffs gated neighborhood, is now qualified for certification as a Build It Green community.

The Build It Green program takes our energy-saving commitment to a whole new level," said Michael Goeth, sales associate for The Bluffs.

"Tuscan Cliffs is Energy Star certified, and The Bluffs takes that energy savings even further. We are saving energy and recycling materials both outside and inside these state-of-the-art homes."

Build It Green is a national program that promotes healthy, energy-efficient building. The five key elements of its certification program require developers to consider community, energy, health, resources and water when building homes.

Among the energy saving efforts at the Bluffs is construction waste recycling. "We are recycling more than 50 percent of the waste generated during construction," Goeth said.

"And we are using energy efficient and recycled materials in parts of the homes. A normal home's greatest energy user is the air-conditioning unit, and homes at The Bluffs will all be equipped with 14-SEER units," he said. "The homes are also equipped with Energy Star-rated appliances, carbon monoxide alarms, energy-efficient ceiling fans and paint with lower toxicity levels.

The Bluffs will officially open later this summer with three new model homes.

The models range from 5,800 to 6,800 square feet and carry the Green Home designation through the Build It Green program.

The Bluffs' designs incorporate Pacific Southwest Development's signature New Millennium Home philosophy to design semi-custom luxury homes with many options for personalization.

Standard amenities at The Bluffs include 12-foot ceilings, Pella windows and doors, stainless-steel Viking appliances, exterior stone veneer, 42-inch maple cabinets, granite countertops, 6-foot Kohler spa tubs and three fireplaces.

All homes include outdoor kitchens and disappearing glass doors, which allow residents to link internal and external areas seamlessly. Base prices at The Bluffs start at $3 million.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to the St. Rose Parkway exit and go west. Drive north on Southern Highlands Parkway and proceed to Stonewater Lane, then turn left and follow the signs. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Monday when it opens at 1 p.m. The sales office phone number is 228-8559.
