The Family, Fur & Fun Festival is today

The master-planned community of Summerlin joins with the Nevada Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to offer a free public event for animal lovers and their pets, the second annual Family, Fur & Fun Festival.

Scheduled today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Summerlin Centre Community Park, 1800 South. Town Center Drive, the event will feature pet adoption, micro-chipping, animal safety and training tips, a live performance by Murphy's Bone, interactive children's activities and information from nearly 50 participating vendors.

"Summerlin has a well-established pet-friendly infrastructure, which includes hundreds of acres of open space and more than 150 miles of trails," said Tom Warden, senior vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

"On any given day, you'll see our four-legged residents out and about enjoying these amenities. Summerlin is a great place to live -- not only for people, but for pets as well."
