DVDS
“The Proposal” (PG-13): In this romantic comedy, a bitch-on-wheels book editor (Sandra Bullock) who’s about to be deported drafts her browbeaten assistant (Ryan Reynolds) as her instant fiance, only to get her fish-out-of-water comeuppance when they visit his family in Alaska.
Elsewhere on the recent-release front, “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi returns to his sick ’n’ twisted horror roots for “Drag Me to Hell” (PG-13), about a perky bank loan officer (a game Alison Lohman), ordered to evict an old woman from her home, who falls victim to a supernatural curse. “Land of the Lost” (PG-13) revamps the ’70s kid TV favorite, as a crackpot scientist (Will Ferrell) zaps himself back in time. And the documentary “Every Little Step” (PG-13) focuses on the singular sensation that was, and is, the Broadway musical “A Chorus Line.”
Also arriving today: “Sweet Hereafter” director Atom Egoyan’s acclaimed “Adoration” (R), about a son convinced his late father was a terrorist; “The Haunted Airman” (R), with “Twilight” teenthrob Robert Pattinson as a wheelchair-bound pilot; Las Vegas’ own Matthew Gray Gubler in the spoofy “How to Be a Serial Killer” (R); “Lost’s” Terry O’Quinn in the 1987 chiller “The Stepfather” (R); Blu-Ray Disc editions of “South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut” (R), director Oliver Stone’s cut of “Natural Born Killers” (not rated) and the Jonathan Demme-directed Talking Heads concert classic “Stop Making Sense” (not rated); and the TV transfers (all unrated) “Wuthering Heights,” “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Pat Paulsen’s Half a Comedy Hour,” “Flashpoint: The First Season,” “Legend of the Seeker: The Complete First Season,” “The Hunger: The Complete Second Season,” “Inspector Lewis: Series Two,” “Lovejoy: The Complete Season Six,” “Girlfriends: The Complete Seventh Season,” “The Ultimate Fighter: Season Nine” and “Married... With Children: The Complete 11th Season.”

CDS
The Flaming Lips, “Embryonic”: The Flaming Lips always have indulged in every whim with the wide-eyed zeal of a bunch of toddlers let loose in the local Toys R Us.
This goes double for their latest release, literally.
An epic two-disc set, “Embryonic” is the band’s most expansive record yet, and that’s really saying something for a band enraptured with tangents and inspired asides.
With guest spots from the likes of MGMT and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, “Embryonic” is a lot to digest from a group that always offers up plenty of food for thought.
  Dig in.
