The Mesa Village makes progress

Nestled against the Spring Mountains, Summerlin's newest and most southern village developed to date, The Mesa, is quickly taking shape.

The Mesa Village is a 500-acre residential village that features a desert contemporary architectural style.

Village and neighborhood entry monuments are marked with abundant stonework and back-lit metal signs set against dramatic color hues.

"Keeping with the Summerlin tradition, The Mesa Village features dramatic entry monuments and architectural accents throughout that are unique to the village," said Julie Cleaver, director of planning for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

Upon completion, The Mesa Village will be home to multiple residential neighborhoods; an 18-acre community park that will feature baseball/softball fields, tennis courts and children's play areas; multiple neighborhood parks, many that will feature pool and spa areas; a future elementary school; and Bishop Gorman High School, a 35.5-acre coed Catholic college preparatory school scheduled to open this fall for the 2007-2008 school year.

Homes currently selling in The Mesa are located in the village's first neighborhood, Ladera, which is being developed by three valley home builders: Engle Homes, KB Home and Richmond American Homes.

Combined, the home builders offer more than 20 floor plans that range from 1,642 to 2,883 square feet. Prices range from the high $200,000s to the mid-$500,000s.

Upon completion, Ladera will include 600-plus homes. Existing neighborhood amenities include a large neighborhood park with a swimming pool that serves as a social and recreational gathering place for residents.

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990 and is a 22,500-acre master-planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.

The community features numerous amenities and is currently home to more than 95,000 residents.

With about 7,500 acres still to develop, including its urban core, Summerlin Centre.

The community is home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin Trail System, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.

Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the low $200,000s to more than $2 million. Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s.

Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the low $1,000s.
