The poll tolls for thee
Every time the Las Vegas Review-Journal conducted a poll this political season, a certain political pundit hissed and spit and stamped his feet about it. Said that random dialing was imperfect, the sample size was too small, or was somehow otherwise skewed by gender or region or some other stupidity.
The proof is in the pudding. And once again, our polling proved as spot on as polling can be.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying polling is anything other than what it is -- a snapshot in the proverbial flowing river. But done right (as our polls are) they are scientific snapshots that can be put into context with previous polls to give readers a good sense of what really is happening.
I'm just sayin' that this morning because I'm sure the R-J newsroom will do more polling in the general election and this same flawed pundit will whine about them (while reporting the heck out of them, BTW). It's just good to remember who was right and who is a threatened, ax-grinding political shaman attempting to keep up the appearance of being relevant long enough to sell a few newsletters.
