The Washington village of idiots

Watching the financial bailout drama (or lack thereof) unfold on cable news television today is enough to make a grown American weep. It begs this question: Have we no leadership in this country?
President Bush couldn't sell food to a starving man. Sen. Harry Reid is a hopeless partisan hack incapable of acting in the best interest of the country unless there is political benefit for him. Ditto House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Sen. Chris Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank are culpable for the current mess. We'd be better off indicting them, not asking them to fix it. Sen. Obama says call me if you need me. Sen. McCain looks like this is all an opportunity for a political stunt.
If this crisis is as serious as the president and congressional leaders say it is, why cannot they muster the leadership to sell it and pass it?
