The show is being sponsored by the Gateway Arts Foundation, a charity that gives scholarships to young artists.

'Madame Butterfly' to be presented
by UNLV Opera Theatre
The UNLV Opera Theatre plans to present "Madame Butterfly" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Judy Bayley Theatre , 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
Tickets are $25 for general admission , $15 for seniors, military personnel, faculty and staff and $5 for UNLV students with ID.

Broadway hits to be featured
at Saturday performance
Broadway comes closer to home as the UNLV Performing Arts Center presents Tony award-winning hits from Broadway's greatest musicals as part of the New York Stage & Beyond Series, set for 8 p.m. Saturday on in the center on UNLV's campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
Tickets are $40, $55 and $85 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center box office at 895-2787 or by visiting pac.unlv.edu.
Student rush tickets are $13 each and available one hour before each event, based on availability and with valid student I D.

The 10th annual Pure Aloha Festival is scheduled to take place April 14-17 at the Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road.
This Hawaiian festival will feature more than 100 island craft and merchandise booths, authentic food vendors and amusement rides. Local halau dancers and bands will provide entertainment.

The Metropolitan Opera Live in HD Series brings live opera to the big screen at Sam's Town Century 18 movie theater at Sam's Town, 5111 Boulder Highway.
Selected recorded performances will be presented as encores. The next offering scheduled is an encore of Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti at 6:30 p.m. April 6. The tragic opera is set in 17th-century Scotland and features an emotionally fragile woman caught in a feud between her family and another. CSN's cheyenne campus plans three performing arts events this week
The College of Southern Nevada is set to host several events this week in the Recital Hall, Room 1430, on the Cheyenne Campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
Cuban pianist Jorge Luis Prats is set to conduct a master class at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by an informal recital. Admission is free.
Young pianists in three age divisions will compete in CSN's 11th annual Piano Concerto Competition at 9 a.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
A variety of small ensembles, duos and quartets plan to perform during the Chamber Music Concert in support of the CSN String Studies program. The concert is at 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5.
