WORTH A DRIVE

The monthly First Friday arts festival returns from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday to the 18b Las Vegas Arts District downtown. For more information, visit firstfridaylasvegas.com. Many area galleries plan First Friday shows, and several are open for preview Thursday.

"Magic: A Night of Deception," a performance of illusion, mind reading, comedy and storytelling featuring the talents of Paul Draper, Jason Andrews, Les McKinney, Christian Cagigal and Chuck Lane, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. The first full weekend of every month, Bank of America cardholders receive free admission to museums and attractions nationwide. Local attractions participating include: the Springs Preserve, the Lied Discovery Children's Museum and the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. The exhibit "Tony Hawk Rad Science" is scheduled to run through Jan. 20 at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. The exhibit allows visitors to put themselves into the role of skateboarders and scientists as they explore more than 25 interactive experiences. It is presented by the Tony Hawk Foundation in conjunction with the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. International performers from more than 15 countries are on tap to dazzle during the 2013 Zelzah Shrine Circus, with seven shows planned for Jan. 10-13 at The Orleans Arena, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. The theme is Broadway and will include an original score and new costumes. Showtimes are set for 7 p.m. Jan. 10, 8 p.m. Jan. 11, 11 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Jan. 12 and 1:30 and 6 p.m. Jan. 13. Attendees are welcomed into all three rings of the circus for the pre-party one hour before showtimes to meet performers and ride the elephants. General admission tickets are $14 for children 12 or younger and $18 for adults. Reserved seating is available for $27 or $45. Children 2 or younger get in free but must sit in a parent's lap in reserved seating.
