A free city of Las Vegas movie in the park is scheduled to feature the PG-rated film "Dolphin Tale" at 7:30 p.m. July 20 at the Centennial Hills Park Amphitheatre, 7101 N. Buffalo Drive. Explore the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, also known as Mount Charleston, with free interpretive programming. Events planned for Saturday include a guided hike of Fletcher Canyon Trail to begin at 10 a.m. at the Visitor Center; a Civilian Conservation Corps program at 1 p.m. at the Visitor Center; and a night hike at 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Campground host site. On Sunday, plans include a guided hike through the Lower Bristlecone area at 10 a.m. and a Junior Ranger program at 1 p.m. at the Visitor Center. Cinemark Theatres plans a Summer Movie Clubhouse offer with 10 films for $5 when purchased in advance or $1 per show if purchased at the box office. This week's film is "Rio" scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Century 16 Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive. Worth a Drive

The city of North Las Vegas Movie Madness free movie in the park nights are set to begin at dusk. Kids activities are slated at 6:30 p.m. Moviegoers are invited to bring blankets and picnics. Las Vegas Academy's production of "Big River," a musical about the adventures of Huckleberry Finn, has been selected as one of eight Main Stage shows to be performed at the Educational Theatre Association's International Thespian Festival. Before the students make the trip to Nebraska, they plan to perform the show in Las Vegas at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday in the Lowden Theater for the Performing Arts at Ninth Street and Clark Avenue. Station Casinos plans to celebrate its Metal Month with free concerts in June in the Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive. Music Americana Volume 1 is to kick off a summer music series with styles such as blues, bluegrass, classic rock, country, folk, jazz, reggae and rock 'n' roll from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 30 at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, 6725 Lee Canyon Road on Mount Charleston. The lineup is to include Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, John Earl's Boogieman Band, Moaning Black Snakes and Las Vegas' Tommy Rocker. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12 and can be purchased the day of the event at the resort. A discounted package rate of $50 for all four concerts is to be available for purchase online. Gates are set to open at 10:30 a.m., and guests can bring chairs, blankets and umbrellas for the festival-style seating. Free parking is available, and guests can ride the complimentary shuttle from the parking lot. A limited food and beverage menu is to be available. The North Las Vegas Independence Day Jubilee is scheduled from 6 to 9:30 p.m. July 3 at James Seastrand Park, 6330 Camino Eldorado. Gates are to open at 5 p.m. Admission is $4 per person. Advance wristbands are on sale at five for $15. Limited parking is available near the intersection of Revere Street and Centennial Parkway. The Summerlin Council invites all to the 18th annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade, slated from 9 to 11 a.m. July 4. The escort division is set to commence at 8:30 a.m. The public is encouraged to be in place by 8 a.m. The parade is set to begin at the corner of Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive in The Trails village of Summerlin. Participants will travel south on Hills Center Drive toward the Village Center Circle roundabout before heading west on Trailwood Drive. The parade will end at the corner of Trailwood Drive and Spring Gate Lane. View more than 60 entries, including traditional floats, Macy's-style helium balloons, performing bands and groups, and a variety of kids' favorite storybook and cartoon characters.
