Worth a Drive

Ethel M's annual cactus-lighting event is set for today. A limited number of tickets will be available to those who bring one new, unwrapped toy to the factory at 2 Cactus Garden Drive. For each toy, people can receive a four-pack of tickets to the event, with a limit of eight tickets per family. Toys will be donated to the annual KLUC Toy Drive. The lighting event is expected to feature entertainers, photos with Santa Claus, face painting, balloon artists, raffles and chocolate samples. Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross plans to host the Cowboy Christmas and Classic Car Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road. The free event is scheduled to include photos with Santa, hay rides, a petting zoo, a jump house, face painting, a farmers market, craft and food vendors and historic ranch house tours. Centennial, Shadow Ridge, Arbor View, Saville, Scherkenbach, Escobedo, Lied and Cadwallader school choirs plan to perform. The U.S. Marines will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots Drive, and the city will collect nonperishable food for needy seniors in the area. Early registration for the car show is $25, due by Nov. 21, or $35 cash the day of the event. All makes, models and years are welcome.
