EARLY VOTING FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTION SCHEDULED THROUGHOUT CITY

Early voting opportunities for the 2015 City of Henderson Municipal Election are set to be available from March 21 to April 3 throughout the city. The primary election is April 7, and the general election is June 2.

LIBRARY TO HOST ONLINE BUYING AND SELLING CLASS

An online buying and selling workshop is planned from noon to 2 p.m. March 24 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The event is set to cover how to purchase and sell items through Craigslist, eBay, Facebook and Amazon while protecting against fraud and identity theft.

Attendees must know how to use a computer mouse, copy and paste and basic computer functions. Registration is required.

NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR SENIOR CITIZEN OF THE YEAR

Nominations are being sought for Nevada’s Senior Citizen of the Year. Anyone 60 or older who has lived in Nevada for at least five years is eligible to be nominated.

The National Silver Haired Congress Nevada Delegation, in partnership with the Aging Services Directors Organization, established the award in 2013. Las Vegas resident Raymonde Fiol, 77, was the 2014 recipient.

APPLICATIONS FOR CITY JUNIOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM DUE APRIL 10

The City of Henderson is set to accept applications for its Teens-N-Training junior leadership program through 6 p.m. April 10.

The program provides teens 14 and 15 with hands-on learning and training experiences designed to instill leadership, responsibility, teamwork and self-confidence. Teens are selected through an interview process and given summer assignments based on skills, interests and availability.

Participation is $110 per teen and includes training and T-shirts. Applications can be mailed or hand delivered to the City of Henderson’s Youth Enrichment Office, 280 S. Water St.

CLUB PLANS CHILDREN’S BASKETBALL PROGRAM

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada is planning to offer a comprehensive basketball program. Children are set to learn teamwork, physical fitness and sportsmanship.

Prices start from $70, and the fee includes a 2015 membership to Boys & Girls Clubs. Leagues are open to children 5 to 12.

ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR ANNUAL HERITAGE PARADE

The city of Henderson is set to accept entries for the annual Heritage Parade through March 30. The parade is planned for 10 a.m. April 18 in the Water Street District.

The theme is “The Good Old Days,” and all applicants will be judged on theme, creativity and overall appeal. The top three floats are set to receive cash prizes.

APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR HENDERSON SENIOR GAMES

The city of Henderson is seeking athletes to take part in the 2015 Henderson Senior Games, set for April 11-26, an annual program that blends sporting and social events for athletes 50 or older.

Athletes of all skill levels are invited to participate. Registration is accepted through March 31 and is $15 per person (with the exception of volleyball), which includes a commemorative T-shirt. There is a cost of $3 to $5 per event.

Registration packets are available at cityofhenderson.com and at all city of Henderson recreation centers. The 2015 Henderson Senior Games are set to take place a variety of Henderson locations, including recreation centers, parks and schools. Awards are planned following each event.
