Celebrate the opening of the new North Las Vegas City Hall at the Christmas tree lighting planned for 4 p.m. Thursday at 2250 Las Vegas Blvd. North. City Council members are slated to address crowds in the new Civic Plaza. The event is to include live entertainment.
The Aliante Master Association's Holiday Tree Lighting and Community Party is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Deer Springs Park, 6550 Aviary Way. Expect visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, face painting, a holiday train ride, firetruck rides, an elf show and choir performances. The event is free and open to the public. The Salvation Army will be collecting new, unwrapped toy donations.
The College of Southern Nevada Dance Ensemble and the Concert Dance Company plan to team with the Nevada Repertory Dance Theater to present "MahlerFest," a performance of Kelly Roth's choreography to Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No. 9." Worth a Drive
First Friday returns to the 18b Arts District from 6 p.m. to midnight. Local food vendors and live music will be featured in the Arts District and along Fremont Street East.
